| Q: What is Down2Home ? |
23/01/2002
|
| A: Down2Home is a logging application.It logs
Upload & Download volumes, Organizes the data in easy charts. This
way you have an idea of the amount of data you are transferring
in a certain period of time.Is very useful when your ISP allows
you only a limited amount of transfer volume. |
| |
| Q: The download page doesn't work. |
28/06/2005
|
A: Spypot S&D immunize feature adds *.coolfreepages.com to resticted sites, which breaks the download page. Remove *.coolfreepages.com from your restricted sites list,
or add jitserv.coolfreepages.com to your trusted sites list...
|
| |
| Q: The Input & Output volume is always the same. |
28/06/2005
|
A: By default, Down2Home monitors all network adapters, also the "TCP LoopBack Adapter"
Depending on your driver implementation, this network adapter reports no traffic,
the opposite amount of traffic of the other adapters, or a part of the traffic sent/received
by the other adapters.
Please verify if this adapter exists & is being logged (right click on systray icon, options, tab adapters)
Deselect it to resolve this issue.

| Q: I clicked on 'Reset Counters', and now I lost all my
statistics. Can I get them back ? |
15/10/2002
|
A: There's no need.
The 'Reset Counters' option has the one and only purpose to log
the recorded statistics to the database. It has the same consequences
as shutting down and restarting Down2Home:
The statistics on the monitor window are reset, but all data is
recorded and consultable via "Volume Statistics" in the right
click.

| |
| Q: The screen flickers when playing games. |
28/06/2005
|
A: This is a known issue.
Cause is the current implementation of the transparancy feature.
Workaround: Turn off D2H while playing games.
|
| |
| Q: D2H suddenly stops counting.(after counting up to 2GB between 2 reboots) |
28/06/2005
|
A: This is a known issue.
This is due a limitation in the statistics that your network drivers provide. Mostly this limit is about 2 GB.
After that the statistics go in overflow & start reporting negative numbers.
Workaround: Reboot. The statistics will be reset until again 2GB is downloaded.

| |
| Q: I Think the amount of bytes displayed is wrong. |
23/01/2002
|
| A: The amount of bytes sent & received
displayed in the various icons (DUN, Driver Icon,..) can be different
from what Down2Home shows. Down2Home takes all traffic for a specific
adapter into account. This means that handshaking packets, such
as acknowledge packets are also logged. You can call it a worst-case
approach. It can only be less. |
| |
| Q: The displayed speed is not the same as with other
metering applications. |
23/01/2002
|
|
A: By default, Down2Home shows the kBps speed. Note
that one kBps is 1,000 bytes per second, whereas a KB (kilobyte)
is 1,024 bytes. Data transfer rates are measured using the decimal
meaning of k whereas data storage is measured using the powers-of-2
meaning of k. Therefore, it is written with a lowercase k.
You can switch to Kilobits per second (Kbps) via the options
menu.
